My kids LOVINGLY call me "Smother" sometimes. I'm the kind of mother that always has to make sure their world is just right. They hear me say "Wear a coat, it's cold." "Call me when you get there." "Be careful." "Let me do it for you so you don't get hurt." Those kinds of things. They love my smothering. Like getting up with them every morning to make sure they are up, getting them breakfast, making sure they have lunch money (their in High School). I know I sometimes over mother but I can't help it.
Take this morning for example. We had our first snowfall of the year and our first fender bender. We got about 2 inches of snow and I noticed when I started my son's car and to wiped the snow off (you can insert SMOTHER here) that is was light snow not heavy. I didn't realize the roads were slick. I still said "Be careful." Not two minutes later my daughter calls to tell me they were in a ditch. They made it to the end of the street and then turned to go down the hill and slid. Once my husband and I went to pull the car out I saw that they barely missed a telephone pole. That is when I started to say a prayer of thanks. It could have been so much worse. The bumper needs just a little repair. Okay, I realize smothering won't prevent accidents from happening~ that you have to Let go and Let God. I just see myself as one of his helpers. Are you a Smother too?

Girl I am SUCH a Smother! Oh, honey yes!! I have also gotten the call about a fender bender...scary! I also call BOTH of my boys (ages 17 and 20) everytime I hear an ambulance. Just to make sure it's not them!
Surely it will get easier with time....but I don't feel good about it!

Hi,
You have shared a good information here in this blog. Thanks for sharing this amazing work and keep up the good work.
I think I am a smotherer just in toddler form. I can't imagine what things will be like when Hayley gets older. I don't think we as mothers can help it, it's natural inborn and there is not a thing we can do about it.
Glad your daughter is okay, I know that was probably very scary to see and I'm sure she was shaken up too. That snow sure did sneak up on us!
