Why I love Twin 2

Carolyn from The Barber Bunch is having a give away so be sure to visit her and sign up.

Twin and I are having a "Welcome to the Neighborhood" party and will be sharing details soon. We will also be having a give away :o)

Ya know I just want to share a little something with you while twin 2 is not around lol (as we are calling ourselves twin 1 and twin 2 for right now until we get to know each of you a little better at our party). I just love all of this twin stuff and we believe EVERYONE should be a twin but.....when ever we go to get our hair cut twin 2 is ALWAYS changing things around a bit. We now go to a beautician that is not in our home town and we always go together but when we went to a different beautician in our home town we would go separate times. Anyways one time I went before her and got the usual and when Twin 2 went to get hers cut a week later she decided to get a bob! Well, mine was too SHORT so I had to wait a while for it to grow and then I got a bob too but ......before I could even get used to it Twin 2 decided she wasn't that crazy about the bob and decided to get a DIFFERENT style (this was 2-3 months ago). I wasn't crazy about cutting it all off again but thought okay it'll grow. Well, after that hair cut I hated my hair for about a month because it was too short and I couldn't do a thing with it and I kept asking myself WHY DID YOU CUT IT....of course the answer was 'cause Twin 2 did.

A couple of months go by and I am really starting to like my hair 'cause it is now a little longer and doing what I want it to do. Well, we went back to get our hair cut today. Hubby asked me last night how I was getting it cut (He knew I was going with Twin 2) and I said "Oh, just the same. I just want a tad cut and I need it thinned out (we have VERY thick hair) and GUESS WHAT???? When I got in the car with Twin 2 this morning she told me she had an idea and thought we should go with a layered BOB!!!! Yep, we're back with the bob but, it's a LAYERED one so it's not the same or at least that is what Twin 2 told me!

I am sure as soon as I get use to styling it and recognizing myself in the mirror again, Twin 2 will be saying hey...let's go get our hair cut....... I know just the right style......

Please remember this family in your prayers

My son's new friend (I say new as they became friends about a year ago) and his brother were in a car accident Monday. My son's friend was the driver and his brother was killed. My son's friend thankfully only suffered a sprained ankle. How does something like this happen? The brother was only fourteen and attended high school for only four days. We have interstate 80 running along side our town connecting other towns to it. Of course we don't know all the facts but they somehow hit a parked semi. My husband and I can't wrap our brains around it-the sadness of it all. I think part of it is our son has just started driving and I say a little prayer every time he goes somewhere. This is every parents worst fear. I feel such pain and sadness for this family. How does a 16 year old deal with this the rest of his life? How do his friends who are just kids help him through this?

The wake is Thursday night and both of my children want to go. I realize friends will be really important right now but I don't think my kids realize the sadness and depth of grief this funeral will be. I want to shield them from this as I have tried to keep anything unpleasant from happening to them all their lives.

My husband and I talked in length to them both and other than that I feel helpless. I'm thinking of offering our home as a place they can bring their friends after the wake for dinner and together time as I think being with their friends may help start the healing process. As to any answers as to why? I have none. I can only be there to lend support and listen when they choose to share. Please pray for this family.

UNDER CONSTUCTION

Sorry, I tried to put a background in our blog and I really screwed things up!! All my favorite blogs are no longer listed as well as a few other things. I am hoping when Fran's daughter Lexi gets home from school she can fix it. I was just trying to spruce up the place :o)

A beautiful table for just $8.00 and a can of paint!

I bought this little "gem" at a yard sale this summer. It was $8.00. It was nice a sturdy with some minor scratches. I have a big flat screen tv hanging in my bedroom and wanted a slim line table to go under it.
Time to roll up my sleeves and get to work.
The top of the table had some scratches so hubby thought I should use this fine piece of machinery. I must admit it saved a lot of time and energy.
Isn't "she sweet" looking :o)
All the scratches are gone and she is just glowing.
I just LOVE the finish product! My twin and I are blogging together so I am sure it gets confusing. I am going to call myself Twin One since I am the older one (five minutes) My whole house is under construction right now so most of the things you see will be from Twin Two. I have been pretty much living in the garage. We have our fridge, dining room set and couch in there. Have been cooking in a electric skillet and using a hot plate. We took down all the walls to open up the kitchen, living room and dining room. We are about half way done and I can not wait to be able to show all of you the results of all our hard work (or should I say hubby's hard work) Can't wait to see what this table looks like in our new bedroom. We are putting in all new floors and all new trim (going with white). Every room is getting a face lift and believe me when we are done I could of had a 10 face lifts myself and still had some $$ left over!!

Ugly-ella

Once upon a time I came home with a family because they purchased a dining room set and got me for free. The Mrs. didn't like me much with my faux wood look and put me in the upstairs hallway. She put a few knick knacks inside and then pretty much ignored me like I was an ugly step-sister. I was so unloved. One day I over heard her telling the Mr. she was going to try to sell me in a yard sale or give me away. I might have heard her use the word dump! Couldn't she see passed what I was to what I could be? I waited my fate.

Soon she had the Mr. carry me downstairs and I truly thought my days were numbered. Next she took out some brick red paint and to my surprise she started to paint me. Slowly she started to look at me differently. It was like she was looking into my soul and liked what she saw.

I now live downstairs with the other furniture she loves. Talk about turning an ugly duckling into a swan...but that my friend is another story.

What am I ?

With everyone going to yard sales and estate sales and getting such great deals, I decided to go to an auction this summer. I loved this little rocking chair. It is in great shape; it just needs a new cushion. Does anyone know how old it could be? A friend told me they think it is a sewing rocker. It is smaller than your average rocker, but not small enough to be a child's rocker.

If it is a sewing rocker, would that just mean that people sewed by hand while rocking? I paid $27.50 for it! Did I do okay for my first auction?

Joining the Mistreatment Party :o)

These are temporary also. May keep them if I can find panels to go with. Anyway these are sheer panels that were too short so I took the hem out, folded over extra material and hung on hook. Hoping to have better mistreatments for the next mistreatment party.

Like all my mistreatments they are pre-Nester and I think I could do a better job after seeing hers. It's hard finding material as nice as she has because I don't live near a large city. These are in a bedroom and will do for now. Just used no sew tape and hung on rings.

This was my very first mistreatment before I even knew what a mistreatment was. This is in my son's room and it's like an inverted window box style window.
