What am I ?

With everyone going to yard sales and estate sales and getting such great deals, I decided to go to an auction this summer. I loved this little rocking chair. It is in great shape; it just needs a new cushion. Does anyone know how old it could be? A friend told me they think it is a sewing rocker. It is smaller than your average rocker, but not small enough to be a child's rocker.

If it is a sewing rocker, would that just mean that people sewed by hand while rocking? I paid $27.50 for it! Did I do okay for my first auction?

I love that rocker!!!! There is one at my favorite fleatique store that I've been eyeing for months. I can't believe it hasn't sold yet.

I know what you mean about it being a smaller scale but not small enough to be a child's rocker.

Yours is beautiful and I think you did great on the price. I'll be interested to see what kind of fabric you put on the seat.

I had to run back over here after I read your comment on my blog... CHICKEN FOOT is a domino game played with a special set of dominoes...however, since I said I was serving chicken salad I can see where the game could sound like a joke...LOL Have a blessed day. ;-) Bo

Welcome to the world of blogging. I found you by way of Susie. I am fairly new, and slowly learning a little more. The rocker is so pretty, and I would say your price was a good one. It would sell for way more than that here at our Goodwill, probably at least double that. Looking forward to more visits. Jackie

Yes, those cushions were from W-Mart on sale for $5.00 each at mine. I also got matching place mats for $1.50 each on sale. I saw them and HAD to have them because I do have a hard time finding cushions I like and I LOVED these.

Great price and great chair. I believe it is a sewing rocker. They generally are smaller and no arms, as not to interfer with the job of sewing. Easy to reach in the sewing boxes or baskets that used to sit next to the chairs.
I have one and yours is similar.

I too have a small scale rocker that I bought at an auction about 20 years ago. I had no idea it was a sewing rocker. Glad I popped in so I now know what I have.
